Come and Gone

Christmas has already come and gone and I can't believe how quickly. I always feel like I spend a lot of time preparing for a certain day to come and then it's gone before I can even truly enjoy it. It's sad really. I think I much more prefer the season leading up to Christmas rather than Christmas day itself.

This year was especially bitter because of personal family problems with my dad. Usually family gatherings do end with a bust up between my dad and someone else, but this year he decided to throw in a wrench by not coming at all. In fact, he was on the other side of the planet for reasons unknown.

I picked him up from the airport yesterday. I feel a family meeting coming on.
